Creativity is both a blessing and a curse. Without it, you would not be a creator, a creator of new value, but because of your creativity, you often become distracted (or even paralyzed) by the tremendous flow of new ideas.

I write more often about my own popcorn brain. Hugely valuable and comes up with the most brilliant ideas at the most extraordinary moments. But it has also cost me a lot before. As in losing the power of my ideas because they came at the wrong time. Often too early for another person who was not yet ready to grasp my ideas and see them as value.

Also not properly communicated and expressed the value to the other person because it was SO clear to me and at the time did not realize that the other person was not ready. As a result, I lost my time, energy but also the spin-of my idea in the form of appreciation, money and my expertise.

Creativity and innovation together reinforce each other and deliver more, mist you don't get distracted e.g. by the "Shiny Object Syndrom.

The 'Shiny Object Syndrome': lack of focus

With all your experience, expertise and your quick-thinking brain, basically any new idea can quickly become a reality. And that is exactly where the problem lies. An exciting new idea in the middle of a project and work can be a distraction that causes your previous project to remain unfinished. After a few cycles of start → distraction → start → distraction, you may begin to doubt your ability to complete a project at all.

Do you recognize this? You're not alone. Many creative and innovative entrepreneurs struggle with "Shiny Object Syndrome. But is it a distraction or an opportunity?

A systematic approach: from idea to action

To address this strategically and according to your plan, and to protect yourself from this pitfall so that you do consistently complete your projects, I have developed a simple process. This cyclical process consists of four steps: Commit, Plan, Prioritize and Action.

Step 1: Capture

When an idea comes up, capture your idea immediately. Do this quickly and tactically by capturing the minimum amount of information needed to recall that idea in the near future. To avoid the possibility of not remembering afterwards what you meant by it (very irritating, I speak from experience).

Tips for effective capture:

  • Use the Notion app on your phone (one of my favorite tools!)
  • Send yourself a quick text message or voice message
    • I now use Notion, before that I had created a whatsapp group (my Braindump) with myself
  • Keep a small notebook handy

Step 2: Planning

If you have more time and space, you can fully develop these ideas. This may mean creating a new document for tasks, projects or content ideas.

My approach: I plan, think and work in quarters. Each quarter I reflect and analyze and tackle something new: see below my Framework: More, Better, New.

Benefits of developing ideas:

  • It feels almost as good as performing (with less effort!)
  • It helps you filter 'great ideas' - some turn out to be less great upon closer inspection
  • It gives structure to your potential projects

Practical Tip: Create a system, a method for developing ideas. This could include sections such as "Purpose," "Target Audience," "Key Steps," and "Expected Results. In my Academy, I share my own systems and templates. For inspiration and reuse in your own way and for your own business. So always make sure you have your own method and systems, because that also ensures that you know how to use them to your advantage.

Step 3: Prioritize

Once an idea is developed, place it in a general database alongside all your other existing ideas. This serves as a reminder of all the other priorities you have and as an incentive to keep your focus. Keep your focus on that which serves you and yields the most, either in impact, in revenue or in your time/energy/freedom.

Framework: More, Better, New (Alex Hormozi)

So the challenge remains not to be distracted by everything else, but to keep your focus and to maintain your effective method of prioritizing project ideas and working them into successes.

To prioritize, the "More, Better, New" Framework can help you:

  1. More:
    • Look at what is already working and do more of that.
    • This does not require new solutions, just discipline to scale up.
    • Example: If you host successful webinars, increase frequency.
  2. Better:
  1. If "more" is not an obvious answer, look at how to improve existing systems.
  2. Example: Optimize your existing online program based on participant feedback.
  3. New:
  1. Only when you have worked out "more" and "better" are you looking at "new.
  2. This means creating new value, such as new products , processes or systems.
  3. Example: Launch a completely new service that meets the needs of your target audience.

Tip: Add a property (tag) to your projects to categorize them as "More," "Better" or "New. This helps maintain focus and make strategic decisions about where to focus your energy.

Step 4: Action

After completing a current project and determining that this new idea is the next priority, you can now take action. The best ideas are often the ones you haven't acted on for a long time, but can't stop thinking about.

Start by defining the first three concrete steps you can take to get the project going. This sets you in motion.

The power of routines, systems and frameworks

We are experts at self-deception. When we experience resistance in our current work, we unconsciously create new ideas - the proverbial shiny objects - to allow ourselves to wander. These ideas seem brilliant in the moment, but are often just distractions. In reality, we evade the real challenges we must face to achieve our goals. Paradoxically, the key to success often lies not in doing more, but in focusing on what really matters.

To break this pattern of procrastination and "Shiny Object Syndrome," effective routines, processes and frameworks are essential. The process of Commit, Plan and Prioritize offers a triple benefit: It preserves your ideas, gives you space to experiment briefly with new concepts, and ultimately helps you focus on your current priorities.

What idea have you had for a long time that you can't let go of? This might be your most valuable project.

From creative chaos to structured impact

Creativity is a valuable quality, but without focus and discipline, it can lead to a multitude of blanks, unfinished projects and missed sales. By implementing a systematic approach to capturing, planning and prioritizing your ideas, you can maintain focus and achieve more in less time.

Effectively integrating your own routines, systems and frameworks into your daily life is crucial. By consistently following your own processes, you will find yourself completing more projects and consistently achieving your goals.

Your creativity is a strength, if you know how to use it strategically. It is not about suppressing your creative inspirations, but about using them strategically and with focus. With a clear goal and result in mind.

Give yourself space to dream and generate new ideas, but then use a structured process to determine which ideas and dreams are truly worth pursuing.

Discover the power of structure and creativity!

As you know, as a strategic thinker, I'm a big proponent of streamlined processes and frameworks. Strengthening your strategic leadership, value creation and clear strategy are at the core of sustainable growth. Growth on a personal and business level. To achieve this, there are some essential principles and actions to consider that will strengthen your leadership and successfully drive your vision, strategy and actions for growth.

Vision and purpose

A clear vision and purpose give you focus that will keep both your personal and business growth on track. In both personal and business aspects, it is critical to define these and ensure that your actions are in line with your long-term goals and strategy. This creates not only a sense of direction, but also deep motivation to overcome obstacles.

'Focus goes where energy flows' a famous quote by Tony Robbins. So the more you focus and do the right things at the right time, the faster and with more energy you will achieve your goals.

Strategic planning

A thoughtful strategic plan is your personal roadmap to success. It should not only include your goals and priorities, but also be flexible enough to adapt your strategic plan and actions to changing circumstances. Regular review and adjustment are crucial to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of your strategies.

Continuous learning

Investing in personal and professional development is the key to continued sustainable growth. Stay abreast of trends and new developments in the market, emerging technologies and best practices. The ability to learn and adapt to change is an indispensable aspect of strategic leadership. Experiment, learn and implement. And above all, making mistakes. And then seeing your mistakes not as failures, but rather as learning opportunities for further improvement and growth.

Deepening: Framework For personal development and business growth

Effective communication

Clearly communicating your vision and strategy is essential. It creates openness, transparency and builds trust, both on a personal and professional level. Both internal communication with your team and collaborating partners and freelancers. Equally important is your communication with your clients and your content communication. People do business with people and communication, both nonverbal communication and verbal communication are essential for connection and interaction.

Clear communication strengthens human connection and rapport and enables you to learn, grow and move forward. You build good relationships with others and achieve your goals more easily.

Changing and adapting

In a world that is constantly evolving, flexibility and openness to change is invaluable. Actively seek opportunities for innovation and improvement on both a personal and business level. Besides continuous development and learning, it is also important that you know how to implement and adapt.

Cocreation and collaboration

Building strong, diverse teams, or freelancers you work with, is a powerful lever for success. The power of cocreation is great, either within your own company or in your network with other leaders and entrepreneurs. Complementing and enriching your own expertise, skills, and perspectives with those of others not only increases the effectiveness of your actions, but also stimulates creativity and problem-solving skills.

Collaborate with a team and start delegating and outsourcing tasks, because you no longer want to manage, but start running your business. Spending your time and energy on those things that matter. And letting your team, freelancers and third parties/other clients do the other things. It will pay you more in the end: less cost and more time. Invest to grow and scale up.

Daring to take risks and risk management

Taking calculated risks is an inevitable part of sustainable growth. However, implementing effective risk management and future-proof strategies are vital. Consider your business strategy, pricing strategy as well as your revenue model - creating multiple revenue streams for greater financial security and peace of mind.

I previously wrote about multiple revenue streams within your business. I have multiple incomes both inside and outside my company. Want to know more about how you can create multiple streams of income and money for financial peace and independence? Plan a conversation with me and I will be happy to discuss what opportunities I envision for you. The esence of Unlimited Freedom in Life & Business.

Customer focus and customer retention

The key to success in business ventures is understanding and fulfilling the needs of your customers. Continually gathering feedback and using it to improve your products or services keeps you on the path of customer-centric value creation. Realize that your customers are also growing and developing and adapt your offerings accordingly and enrich them with new value for your customers. That way, you will always continue to offer the best value to your customers and can continue to work with your top customers for longer.

Financial security

Whether in personal or business finances, implementing financial security and peace of mind is crucial. Wise invest, strategic saving and striving for sustainable growth are pillars of financial leadership. Make sure you never depend on just one revenue stream, one cash flow. Create multiple revenue streams so you are financially secure and financially independent. I always work with my clients to create a strategic plan where you grow in impact, revenue and freedom, including financially by creating multiple revenue streams. The essence of Unlimited Freedom - unlimited free living and enterprise.

Wellness and work/life integration

The pursuit of growth should not be at the expense of your own health and well-being. But neither should your (private) life. Prioritizing personal health and maintaining a healthy work-life integration are integral components of sustainable growth, happiness and fulfillment. Time and health are precious. So spend your time and energy on those things that really matter.

Innovation and creativity

Innovation is the lifeblood of sustainable growth. Creating an environment that nurtures new ideas and solutions is a must for strategic leadership.

The ability to innovate is a crucial attribute of successful leadership and entrepreneurship. Innovation allows you to continuously improve and adapt yourself and your business to the changing needs of the market and of your customers. By actively working on new ways to deliver (more) value, you can gain a competitive edge over your competition and achieve strong growth.

Innovation can take many forms, from introducing new products and services to optimizing internal processes. The important thing is to create a system, a culture of innovation, in which you and (if applicable) your team are encouraged to explore and implement new ideas.

Networking

Building a strong professional network and maintaining relationships is crucial for growth. To connect with potential clients, like-minded people and other warm contacts in your network. To strengthen, inspire and help each other move forward. A lifeline for mutual growth and learning. A network not only increases your visibility, authority and expert status, but also opens doors to new opportunities and growth possibilities.

Future-proof growth

In the quest for sustainable growth and strategic leadership, clear vision, thoughtful planning and continuous adaptation are essential. By balancing personal and business aspects, embracing change, building strong teams and leveraging innovation, we can create value and achieve successful growth. Effective communication, customer focus and financial management also play a crucial role. It is the integration of these principles into a holistic approach that paves the way to a future of continued success. With a commitment to learn, adapt and grow, we lay a solid foundation for sustainable leadership and a prosperous future.

Rediscovering yourself through strategic change and growth.

When you find yourself splitting up and that you notice that what you are doing now is no longer in line with your life story and the impact that wants to contribute to the bigger picture? What do you do then?

Time for change.

Time to write your new story.

Change your life.

Change your life

Does what you want to achieve in your life and leave behind match what you are doing now?

Each new phase in your life gives you new insights, challenges and opportunities. And often each phase begins with a period of inner turmoil, dissatisfaction and struggle. Because the new phase requires standing still, reflecting and making powerful choices. Letting go of what is now and not knowing what is to come. Tension and uncertainty play tricks on you, keep you awake and do not always improve your mood.

Then you can keep going, ignore the feeling and pretend it's not that bad. Because that worked before and you got through that phase, didn't you?

Or you start working on it because you know that your time and energy are too precious to be stuck in this muddling and plodding phase for too long.

Then you take action and engage in the change. The change of you as a person, but also of your life and your professional life. Because these changes are necessary to develop and grow again on a personal and professional/business level, to learn and start doing new things.

As it were, you are writing another new chapter that you are adding to your life story. But where do you start and what do you need to write a new story in your new chapter?

What is needed is perspective. You need to look for another, a new and attractive storyline. Because you are missing that now and that is confusing, and making you not know where to move next and what you are doing right now. You're missing the focus and the new view. And to have your new vision and perspective clear in your mind again, say the storyline of your new story, you need to pause and take the space/time to have the discussions with yourself. What do you really want and what are you here to do? So that from your deeper desire, forward-looking vision and with positive energy, you begin to regain new insights and focus. And with self-worth and self-confidence, start making the powerful choices so that your internal drive to make an impact is right with what you do.

Doing what you're darn good at, energized by and making an impact.

Doing the right things at the right time with and for the right people.

I believe in making real impact by connecting strategic goals with your potential, your energetic drive and your value creation, with which you know how to make that impact. And knowing what value you have to contribute to the bigger picture, your higher purpose.

change your life

You get more success and value out of yourself, your business and your future if:

  • Your story internally and externally inspires and is true to your vision and values. What do you stand for?
  • Your ambitions and goals are clear. A clear focus. What are you doing, but also explicitly what are you not doing (anymore)?
  • Structure, focus and routines/rhythm. A strategic plan and action plan: doing the right things at the right time. What contributes most to the identified goals? Now and in the long term?
  • Analyze and evaluate monthly so you can learn and adjust. What is going well, what could be better? What will you do more, what will you modify and what will you stop doing?
  • Strategic Leadership on a personal, business and financial level. After all, your business will not grow farther than you as an entrepreneur. How can you create and add new value on a personal, business and financial level and ensure that you continue to develop and grow?

Does your company have a unique story that needs to be told? A true story in line with your legacy - legacy?

Or is it now time for the change, the rewriting of your delivery story, back in line with your vision and legacy?

Take back control. Rewrite your life story

When it's your time to write your new chapter of your life story, take action and pick up the pen. Start writing your new life story in line with your potential, your driven energy. And where you as the protagonist are in that position in your life where you have the space and freedom to create the most value and make your impact. You are the author, the protagonist and the director of your own life.

Writing out your ABCs

The ABC piece, who doesn't know it. And no, not that awful ABC as a piece at your wedding 😉, no your own ABC. A guide, a framework to help you write your new chapter.

Framework: Your ABCs

  1. Your Position: Where do you stand now?
  2. Your Legacy: What is your impact, what do you want to give and leave behind in the world?
  3. Your Strategy: How can you build on your success? What do you need to do as a leader to strengthen your position and future to increase your impact?

A. Your Position: The foundation of your life

Take a moment to reflect on where you are now. Who have you become? What successes have you already achieved and what challenges have you overcome? Your current position is the result of all the choices you have made so far. All those experiences, expertise and value you take with you into your future. Be grateful for what you have achieved, but don't dwell on the past. You are on the threshold of a new phase.

B. Your Legacy: The thread of your story

Now that you know where you stand, it's time to look ahead. What is your dream for the future? What impact do you want to make? Your legacy is the footprint you leave behind in the world.

Ask yourself, "When I look back on my life, what do I want to be most proud of?" Perhaps you want to inspire people, create innovations or make a positive change in your community. Let your legacy be the common thread throughout your life story.

C. Your Strategy: The plot of your story

With a clear picture of your current position and your desired legacy, it's time to map out your strategy. How will you go from A to B? What steps do you need to take to make your dreams come true?

From written-out plan to reality

After writing your little ABC - your current position (A), your desired legacy (B), and your strategy (C) - it's time for the execution, the practical implementation of your plans. For this, I use the questions: Who, What and How. These questions help you make your vision concrete and take targeted actions that bring you closer to your goals.

WHO: (re)defining your target audience

The "Who" question revolves around (re)identifying the people for whom you want to make your impact. These are the individuals or groups you want to inspire, support or help with your unique combination of experiences, expertise and values. We all grow and evolve, so do our target audience/clients. To effectively communicate your new story and message and create maximum impact, you also have to make sure that you appeal to and attract those people with WHO you want to work with and make the most impact.

Knowing who you are there for what you do well and love to do ensures that your solutions are relevant and valuable, allowing your impact to grow exponentially.

WHAT: Defining your unique contribution

The "What" question is about the specific actions you will take to realize your impact. It is the heart of your contribution to the world. This is where you define the products, services, or initiatives you will develop to help your target audience and shape your legacy.

  • What specific problems will you solve?
  • What unique insights or methods will you offer?
  • How do you translate your experiences and expertise into tangible results for others?

In the example of e.g. an HR consultant and burnout expert, it could be "What.

  • An online course on stress management and healthy work-life integration
  • One-on-one coaching sessions for in-depth personal guidance
  • A book of practical strategies for preventing and overcoming burnout
  • Workshops for companies to create a healthier work culture

Make your "What" as concrete and specific as possible. The clearer you are about exactly what you are going to do, the easier it will be to take action and get results.

HOW: Planning your approach and execution

The "How" question is the bridge between your vision and reality. This is where you develop a detailed action plan focused on the practical implementation of your plans. What are the right actions at the right time to achieve your goals?

  • What resources (time, energy, money, knowledge, network) do you need? What will you invest in and be able to achieve your goals as quickly as possible?
  • What steps should you take to develop your product or service?
  • How will you reach and attract your target audience?
  • What collaborations or partnerships can help you achieve your goals (faster)?
  • When is it and success and how do you measure your progress and success?

By working out your "How" in detail, you create a road map that helps you stay focused and make consistent progress.

Integration and iteration

The Who-What-How framework connects your big dreams (your legacy) with daily actions that bring you closer to your goals. Moreover, it is a cyclical process: as you evolve and grow, you create new value for your target audience, enrich your offerings, and adjust your strategy.

Regular reflection and innovating again is crucial:

  • Am I reaching the right people with my message?
    • If not, who is my new target audience and what do I need to change about my position, proposition and strategy to re-engage and attract them with my message?
  • Is my "What" having the impact I envisioned?
    • If not, what should I change, remove or just add to my offerings to do make the impact again in line with my legacy.
  • Are there more efficient or effective ways to achieve my goals?
    • If so, how can I adjust my strategy and what proper actions should I start implementing to achieve my goals?

So always keep an eye on the developments of yourself, the market as well as your client. And assess whether the whole still fits with your vision, the story of your life story.

By being open to feedback and flexible to adjust, you ensure that your course remains aligned with your overarching mission, vision and legacy.

And this takes leadership, dedication, perseverance and flexibility from you, but the reward - making a meaningful impact and leaving a lasting legacy - is unlimited value.

With more than a billion users, LinkedIn is full of potential customers for your business. There are millions of profiles, but the challenge for many businesses and entrepreneurs is how to find the right people on LinkedIn. Knowing that any given moment only 3% of your ideal customers/candidates are actively searching. The vast majority are browsing and not yet ready to buy/respond, they need to be nurtured long term. The question then becomes: how do you not only identify the right customers/candidates, but how do you effectively attract them?

It's a strategy between finding those who are ready for your solutions/offerings and guiding them to the point of conversion. They may not yet be ready to say outright, "I do!", but with the right approach, you can discover a wealth of potential customers/candidates who are more than just curious. They are ready now and about to take action. I'll give you five ways to find your leads through the LinkedIn feed. These aren't just any cold leads. They are your followers who are already immersed in the conversation about your topic or solution.

LinkedIn content strategy - LinkedIn polls and newsletter

Polls are an underrated tool on LinkedIn to drive engagement and gather insights directly from your audience. They provide an easy way to interact with your network and encourage participation through quick, opinion-based questions. This interaction not only increases your visibility, but also provides valuable insights about your potential customers' challenges, preferences and interests. Using polls strategically can lead to more personalized and effective conversations.

Create polls relevant to your target audience's interests and challenges. Analyze the responses to gain insight into preferences that you can then follow up on in the DM (direct message - your inbox)

Having your own newsletter is also a good marketing strategy that few business owners consistently and actively use. I post my Empowered Letters. Where I share new insights and value weekly on strategic leadership, innovations and growth on a personal and business level.

LinkedIn groups

LinkedIn groups allow you to centrally exchange ideas, solve problems and share insights on a broader range of topics. These groups are there to network, but also to create a community around shared interests and challenges. By participating here, you can showcase your expertise and insights and provide value. See who else is a member of the group and who might be potential clients of yours. Engage with them as they post, but most importantly connect with them. In this way, you work on connection and customer relationship and build credibility and trust. Allowing potential customers to come to you in a more organic and value-driven way.

Find LinkedIn groups relevant to your field and join them. Participate actively by sharing knowledge and value, asking questions and responding to other members' posts. Let your expertise speak and connect. Never spam posts or comments. And also never make your offer directly. And certainly never under a post a fellow competitor.

Increase your visibility through comments

Influencers, I prefer to say colleagues with a rich network in your industry have already worked hard to gather their ideal clients in one place. They have now built a valuable and rich network. And I don't necessarily mean quantity, rather a qualitative and warm network with the right leads and connections. By also actively responding to their contributions on LinkedIn, you can also share and present your value to this curated audience.

Through valuable responses to a fellow competitor's post, you can highlight your expertise and start conversations. It's a strategic way to increase your increase visibility and present your expertise and authority in a room full of potential clients.

If people do this on my posts, I really don't mind. Provided it adds value and they don't blindly make their offer or respond to hit someone. People who respond with a valuable comment increase the visibility of the post. So you get more visibility and network, which benefits you and me.

View and select fellow competitors, influencers with audiences similar to your own. Add value through the comments on their posts. Try to be informative and inspiring, but never spam comments.

LinkedIn online events

LinkedIn online events are very valuable marketing strategies to connect with potential customers. They offer a unique opportunity to connect with people who are not only interested in your expertise, but who are also actively looking to expand their knowledge and connections. By participating in these online events, you can approach a group of people who are already showing a level of commitment and interest that a new step. It's about positioning yourself in a place where your expertise is noticed and you authentically attract the right people who are looking for your expertise, your value.

You can of course organize your own events. I have even organized online events and summits on several occasions. And I host my online event LinkedIn Live Women & Leadership weekly on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. But if this is not your thing, or because you are not ready for it right now, use other online events to find and connect with interested potential clients.

Use the search bar to find online events that match your expertise and interests. Register for these events and connect with other attendees who match your ideal customer profile. With this proactive approach, you can in turn enrich your network with new valuable connections.

An entrepreneurial journey full of challenges and personal growth

Judith Elissen is the owner of social media agency Social Media Salland. Three years ago, she made the transition from a salaried career to entrepreneurship. Although she found her passion for supporting entrepreneurs through social media, over time she noticed that she was not getting the energy and satisfaction from her work as before. She was running into certain limits and felt there was more to it, but wasn't sure how to change that. It was a time of making choices.

Judith decided to get in touch with Gerdi Hulsink, an experienced business coach specializing in strategic leadership and value creation. She attended an intensive six-month coaching program at Gerdi, going in depth on her personal and business development. This proved to be a crucial step in her entrepreneurial journey.

Creating space by letting go and making choices

During the coaching process, Judith discovered that she had not factored many things into the growth of her business. Her offerings, pricing and customer relationships were not aligned with her own development and the value she offered. She realized she was too focused on retaining customers, rather than choosing the right customers and services that suited her.

With the support of Gerdi, Judith finally dared to take the difficult step of saying goodbye to a number of clients. This was confronting, but gave her the space and time to build new things. She developed a new range of services, reviewed her pricing and became more selective in taking on clients.

Taking leadership over yourself and your business

It was a challenging process, but Judith found that it restored energy and drive to her business. She learned to take leadership of herself and her business, instead of being led by the wishes of clients. This also meant sometimes daring to say "no" and setting clear conditions.

Judith says, "I really just needed to become more businesslike. I felt great loyalty to my clients, but realized that I had to set my own terms and boundaries in order to do my job well. That was quite exciting at first, but gave me so much new energy in the end."

A new growth strategy and vision for the future

With her renewed mindset and focus, Judith is now ready for the next step in her entrepreneurial journey. She plans to expand her business by offering workshops and trainings from her own location. She is also betting on online visibility and developing online courses.

Her goal is to create more freedom and relaxation without compromising the quality of her services. She wants to focus on the clients that are a good fit for her and where she can add the most value. Judith is confident about the future: "I have learned to make choices, set priorities and take good care of myself. This is essential for sustainable growth."

The importance of investing in yourself as an entrepreneur

Judith stresses the importance for entrepreneurs to invest in their own development. "As an entrepreneur, you have to be willing to invest in yourself. Only then can you really grow, both in your business and in yourself. Gerdi has helped me enormously in taking the right steps and taking my business to the next level. I am very grateful for this valuable collaboration."

For Judith, working with Gerdi was a crucial step in her entrepreneurial journey. Through the combination of personal development and strategic business coaching, she found the space and leadership to take her business to a new level. Her story is an inspiring example for other ambitious entrepreneurs seeking greater freedom, balance and profitable growth.

A success story is the result of the way you think. By managing and controlling your dominant thoughts, you are better able to work your way toward greater success - and wealth - in all aspects of your life. To amass any kind of success in great abundance, you must "magnetize" your mind with intense desire, make a clear plan and believe you are capable of it.

Inspired by the teachings of Napoleon Hill and Andrew Carnegie in the book Think and Grow Rich  and how to apply them in building your personal brand online.

Three principles for successfully building your online brand

  1. A well-defined goal - the power of specificity

Vagueness is the enemy of success. Whether you dream of achieving financial freedom, leading an impactful company and team, or building a strong brand, specific goals are the foundation of your success. This principle revolves around knowing exactly what you want to achieve.

How do you apply this?

  • Write down your goals specifically and in detail.
  • Visualize your success daily.
  • Share your goals with your mastermind group for extra accountability and inspiration.
  1. Learning from failure - the power of resilience

In every failure there is a seed of commensurate benefit. Success is not about avoiding failure, but about using every obstacle as a learning process. Seeing your failures and mistakes as lessons, valuable new steps you can take up, will bring you closer to your goals.

How do you apply this?

  • Keep your "lessons learned" list.
  • Celebrate your failures as steps toward success.
  • Share your experiences openly to inspire others: vulnerability is strength.

Success is the result of lessons, not perfection.

Success ie a choice, choose and be chosen.

  1. The Mastermind Principle - the power of collective intelligence

Imagine this: two minds come together and create a third, more powerful mind - the Mastermind. This is exactly how Andrew Carnegie built the world's greatest company. He surrounded himself with people who had the answers he was looking for. Together they managed to raise money, cast steel and build an empire.

How do you apply this?

- Create a network of like-minded, ambitious women.

- Organize regular brainstorming sessions or mastermind groups.

- Find mentors and advisors who will challenge and inspire you.

create your own success story

Your sccess is not a coincidence, but the result of focused thoughts and purposeful actions.

Strengthen your online position and visibility

Many people hesitate to present themselves online because of fear of criticism or the feeling of not being taken seriously. This fear paralyzes even the most experienced among us. Know that fear in itself is not the problem; what matters is how you deal with it.

Sel yourself the question, "What if my perspective is exactly what someone needs today?" by looking at it from a different perspective, reframing, everything can change. It helps you see opportunities instead of obstacles.

Even if the anxiety does not go away completely, it is important to take action anyway. Start small if necessary. Post a simple piece of advice on LinkedIn, share a valuable article with your own perspective, or start posting responses to someone else's post (and then do so strategically 😉: e.g. with a potential customer, client or someone offering similar service to you).

As you hesitate and fear losing, opportunities disappear. Your unique perspective, potential and value to help others move forward remain untapped.

From fixed mindset to growth imindset

Many people focus on the possible negative outcomes. The fear of losing:

  • "What if I screw up?"
  • "What if I say something stupid?"
  • "What if someone criticizes me publicly?"

These negative thoughts hold you down and keep you from taking your first step. But fear itself is NOT the problem. Because fear is neutral. It is how you choose to interpret and use your fear that makes the difference.

When you ask, "What if I succeed?" your brain begins to figure out how to make that happen. You begin to see possibilities instead of obstacles. You begin to plan for success instead of preparing for the failure you have imagined.

Your thoughts play an essential role here. How you look at a challenge or setback and how you deal with criticism is your choice. In the thought of a fixed mindset you think; that's not where my talent lies or I can't do it. If you think with a growth mindset you may think; you have to find ways/strategies to do it, work harder for it.

It is time to change

Every successful online entrepreneur you admire started somewhere. And they probably had fear, too. They just didn't let fear stop them. Start as small as you need to. Maybe you just post a simple piece of advice on LinkedIn. Maybe share an article you find valuable and add your perspective. Or maybe start by carefully commenting as you build toward posting yourself.

I remember well when I posted my first LinkedIn post. I was mostly worried about what "former" colleagues from my corporate career would think of it. I posted my post and immediately closed my laptop. I didn't want to see what might happen online. I went for a walk and only dared to look at my post after a few hours. And ... really '0' response to my post and everything I had imagined seemed to be a false alarm.

Now, years later, I can laugh about it. I learned that that fear was a sign of growth, of pushing boundaries. Since then, I've shared countless posts ranging from great successes to personal challenges. And you know what? There were wonderful responses, but also criticism. And that's okay.

Whatever it is, do it despite the fear of anything. Because the world needs your perspective. We need valuable creation and innovative ideas from people with unique value and experiences. Your customer needs you. And the only way to make that clear and for your clients to notice you is if you overcome your fear and make your value, expertise, skills and perspective visible and share it with them.

Because ask yourself the question:

"What if my perspective is exactly what someone needs to hear today?"

Stand strong on your position and strengthen your online visibility.

Show the world what you have to offer.

One Life. Lead it. Live it.

Have a great week,

In a world where the allure of a corporate career is often synonymous with stability and success, not everyone dares to take the leap into entrepreneurship. The title "From Corporate to Entrepreneur: Your Journey to Freedom and Impact" highlights exactly that tension between comfort and ambition, which many recognize themselves in but few find the courage to break through.

Imagine this: after two decades thriving in the world of international business, you decide to change course. The interview, peppered with questions and reflections that anyone considering a similar journey might have, provides a glimpse into the crucial moments of this transformation. It is the story of daring to dream, of the desire for freedom and impact, and of the courage to leave behind the familiar for something that resonates with your deepest desires.

"Corporate to Entrepreneur" is more than just a shift in jobs; it is a metamorphosis of mindset, a journey of determination and self-discovery. It is the story of how one person left behind the shackles of the golden cage to walk a path that transformed not only her life, but also the lives of others.

Watch the complete interview below or read a summary below.

The Quest for Fulfillment

You worked for years in international business, climbed the corporate ladder and enjoyed a fine career. But somewhere you felt there was more to it. That drive for freedom, impact and self-development kept gnawing. The lockdown was finally the trigger that made you decide to take the plunge and start your own company.

You came to the conclusion that you were in a boreout - underexcited and out of place. You no longer felt valued and couldn't make the most of your value. The decision to quit your regular job and go your own way was not easy. But deep down, you knew it was the right move.

Personal Growth as a Foundation

You began an intensive path of personal development. You went in search of answers, talked to coaches and psychologists. This period of self-reflection and growth was essential to regain your balance and bring out your most powerful version.

Where before you always felt indispensable at work, you now learned to let go and prioritize your own well-being and happiness. It was a process, but you got better and better at recognizing and suppressing those negative "Gremlins" in your head.

From Corporate to Entrepreneur

Moving from a permanent job to your own company was a big step. What you quickly discovered, however, was that all that experience and skills you had gained in your corporate career were actually helping you tremendously now. Positioning, pricing strategies, marketing, sales - you had it all down pat.

What you missed most of all was the freedom to chart your own course and fully realize your unique value. By focusing on female leadership and helping entrepreneurs struggling with the same challenges as you, you finally found that fulfillment you were looking for.

Building a Future-proof Business

You have now established your own strategic consulting firm, where you help women entrepreneurs make their businesses profitable and future-proof. You offer a variety of programs, from short-term strategy sessions to intensive coaching programs.

It is a continuous process of improvement and innovation. You regularly launch new products and services, but keep focus by not launching a major new initiative more than once a year. This keeps you in overview and allows you to use your energy optimally.

Female Leadership and Empowerment

An important part of your mission is to promote women's leadership. You founded an exclusive Women's Leadership Club, where you bring together women leaders and entrepreneurs for networking, cocreation and mutual support.

You strongly believe that women should embrace their unique strength and value. Too often we still let fear and doubt limit us. You want to inspire women to confidently walk their path and make an impact in their own way.

A Life on Your Terms

With your business, you have achieved not only financial freedom, but also the freedom to organize your life on your terms. You consciously devote time to your family, your personal development and things that energize you.

You have learned to let go and not be distracted by negative thoughts. You have become your own leader, in your business and in your life. This is the true fulfillment you have been looking for - making an impact, making a profit and living an unlimited free life.

Inspiration for Others

With your story, you inspire other women who struggle with the choice between a steady job and entrepreneurship. You show that it is possible to move from a solid career into your own business without sacrificing income or security.

You share candidly about the challenges, as well as the tremendous satisfaction you experience. By going your own way and embracing your most powerful version, you have shown not only yourself but others the way to a life full of impact, gain and freedom.

"You have to make sure you have a good work-life balance, though!" is advice you're bombarded with in the working world.

But is that balance achievable? Because honestly, when is it really balanced?

Work-life balance is often defined as a clear distinction between your professional and personal life. The idea is that you have time where you are your "working self," and time where you do other things. This balance is said to be good for your health, job satisfaction, relationships and general mood.

But let's face it: are work and home really two completely separate worlds?

Lead the life you love and build a thriving business that supports your freedom lifestyle.

I don't believe in a perfect work-life balance. Rather, I advocate integration - a healthy mix of your work and personal life.

Why? Because life is not a static thing. Change is the only constant, both in your personal life and in the business world.

Consider the ongoing developments in:
👉 The market that is constantly changing
👉 The ever-evolving needs of your customers
👉 Your own personal and professional growth
👉 The dynamics within your circle of family and friends

Pursuing a rigid balance in this ever-changing environment can be exhausting. That's why I favor a flexible approach: The Life-Work integration. And that is different for everyone and it changes over time - to your changing circumstances and needs.

I love the flexible approach, where work and home naturally merge: My perfect Life-Work integration.

Because often my most brilliant ideas and solutions arise during a walk in nature. So is this work or private? Frankly, that doesn't matter to me. What matters is that I create a life and a business that suits me, on my own terms.

The essence lies in leading a valuable, healthy and limitless existence. By focusing on what is truly important - both in your personal life and in your business - you channel your energy in the most effective way. In this way, you not only make the best use of your time, but also create the greatest impact.

How leaders can create work-life integration for themselves

Today's work environment and culture can be demanding, especially for leaders and startup founders who are tempted by the hustle culture. With long work hours and constant deadlines, it's easy to get consumed by your work. Which leaves you lived and limited by time.

How can you free yourself up more in your business and keep control of your schedule? Not be limited by time or energy drain?

Here are a few tips that can help you create good work-life integration for yourself:

Manage your energy over your time

Spend your time and energy on those things that really matter. And let your energy prevail there. Based on your energy management, map out what costs you energy and what gives you energy.

Read more about it in my blog: Save time by understanding your energy distribution

Ignore your guilt or perfectionism

As a leader, you often fall into the guilt of not being able to work on certain things or take time for yourself. You need to understand that always working on things only leads to burnout and that it is good to give yourself some space every now and then. Self-care is essential to keeping your mental and physical energy high and performing successfully.

Read more about it in my Empowered Letters: Using perfectionism as your strength

Create a perfectly repeatable week

Start looking for the perfect weekly routine where you combine both your personal and work schedules. Start scheduling those appointments that are non-negotiable for you. And that you schedule at set times each week (exercise, meet up with friends...). And also your work based on your energy level. For example in the mornings no appointments, but blocks for deep work, in the afternoons blocks for appointments, clients.

Prioritize and delegate your work

It is necessary to prioritize and delegate tasks to remain leaders and leading. This helps you focus on essential tasks and free up your personal time for other activities. What are the essentials? And what are the profitable priorities and activities. In other words, what do you want to spend your time and energy on to lead your life and a successful growing business?

This alone is not enough. For you yourself as well as your needs and circumstances change over time. For who you were when you entered work life just after college, you are no longer that person. You have grown personally, professionally and financially. And your needs have also changed over time as have your living and working conditions. But where you are now, is your current BEING, with what you DO and what you are here to do, the IMPACT you want to make?

Or do you have to change your position to live and do business on your terms again, with your full potential, passion and purpose?

Is effortless entrepreneurship possible? Evaluating helps you gain overview and balance

Change to live and work with your full potential, passion and purpose

Imagine doing work that energizes you. Work that matches who you are, your talents and your values. Would you still be so focused on separating work from home?

"Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life."

This famous quote hits the core for me. Of course, not every day is a celebration with me either, but now in my own business I know, when you are doing work that you are good at and energized by:

  • Doesn't matter if you close your laptop at 5 p.m. or 5:15 p.m., or open it for a while on the weekend.
  • Do I not schedule all my vacation days for the whole year already in early January and buy additional vacation days.
  • Looking forward to Monday morning instead of looking forward to it
  • Get pleasure, challenge, satisfaction and meaning from my work

Self-reflection: how do you feel about your work?

Take a moment to check with yourself:

  • What do you feel when you think of "work"?
  • Does it energize you or exhaust you?
  • Are you really doing what you're bang on about?
  • Do you find challenge and satisfaction in what you do?

If you find that "work" evokes mostly negative associations, it's time for change. Not in your work-life balance, but in your approach to work itself. Are you still in the right place, and is it time to take a new step, or move in a different direction?

Do you recognize yourself in one or more of these points?

  • You see work primarily as a way to earn money
  • You feel out of place among colleagues
  • You lack appreciation and positive energy
  • Your work does not challenge you or stimulate your creativity
  • You seek more meaning in your work
  • You experience bore-out or just constant overwork

To me, these are signs of a disturbed work-life balance. Certainly not the circumstances and the way you want to integrate your life and work right?

How do you create a change?

Feeling fulfilled, job satisfaction and meaning are not something you suddenly experience; it takes time and space. It starts with dwelling on what is there now, where you are and where you want to grow. Ask yourself, "Where will I be in 3 years?"

To initiate this transformation, consider the following steps:

  1. Know yourself: What are your unique qualities? What makes you happy? What gives you energy?
  2. Evaluate your current situation: Make a list of aspects in both your life and work that you like and don't like. Be honest with yourself.
  3. Visualize your ideal future: What does your perfect work-life integration look like? Be specific and dare to dream big.
  4. Identify the gap: What is the difference between where you are now and where you want to be? What steps are needed to bridge that gap?
  5. Create an action plan: Determine concrete, achievable steps you can take to get closer to your goal.
  6. Find support: Surround yourself with people who support you in your growth. Consider a mentor or coach who can guide you.
  7. Stay flexible: Be prepared to adjust your plan as circumstances change.
  8. Celebrate your successes: Acknowledge and celebrate every step forward, no matter how small. Dwell on where you are already and what you have accomplished. See the value of that and that it has already brought you this far. And ... there are so many new opportunities and possibilities to come.

It's time to start living. To live the life where everything you do - whether "work" or "personal" - is in alignment with who you are and where you want to go.

One Life.

Lead it.

 Live it.
