Everyone with great ambitions comes across this sooner or later, but hardly anyone dares to name it. The moment in your career where your growth no longer comes from knowing more or doing more, but from thinking differently. That growth requires a different intelligence than the intelligence you have built through education, experience or expertise. It requires a deeper kind of clarity. An ability to discern what is essential and what is ballast. It requires the courage to recognize that you can be brilliant and still get stuck in complexity. And that that complexity is not your enemy, but a signal that the next phase of your leadership is knocking at your door.
The moment in leadership when more knowledge no longer yields growth, more work no longer generates profits, and more strategy no longer brings peace.
That's exactly where The Intelligence Gap™ arises: the gap between your potential and your actual impact. Not because you fall short, but because your system is built on hard work, thinking everything out to perfection and wanting to understand everything before you decide. That system works up to a certain level, but from a certain point it turns against you. Complexity begins to settle into your choices, your strategy, your business structure and eventually even into your identity as an expert, as a leader. You feel the ambition, you see the possibilities, but you can't get through it.
You get things done, you create results, you know exactly where you stand, but still ... you feel there is a gap between what you can do and what you actually unlock. That's the Intelligence Gap in action. Not a lack of intelligence. But a misalignment of intelligence.
The gap between your potential and your actual impact. Between who you are and who you could be. Between being busy and being strategic. Between having a business and building an asset.
You close that gap not by working harder, but by thinking differently. Not by simplifying, but by simplifying intelligently. And that means not by accumulating certainties, but by choosing future-fit. And certainly not by following social proof, but by developing mental autonomy.
This is the work most women never get around to. But now in the chaos, in the changes that are palpable and visible everywhere, this is not the time to undermine yourself. Now is the time to redesign yourself, your life and your future to keep growing relevant and successful.
The reality of complexity in leadership
Complexity often feels like something that happens to you. But complexity is usually a result of your strength. You are smart, you see possibilities, you attract opportunities, and you can carry a lot. And because you can do a lot, you create a lot. Until it becomes too much. Because in sixth gear you want to keep everything going, but you trap yourself in your self-built rat race.
Many times you yourself are the instigator and enabler of complexity, the amount of wanting and being able to do everything. It increases and is fueled by your ambition, curiosity, loyalty, responsibility and perfectionism.
Because of all the expectations you carry from yourself, your clients, your team, your environment. By everything you ‘should’ be able to do, want to do, know or do. And the more you grow, the more you create. The more opportunities, the more choices. The more opportunities, the more risks and barriers.
That's why I always stress that complexity is not something you have to get rid of. It's something you have to learn to master. It creates a gap between leaders who continue to drown in that complexity and leaders who cut through it because they start playing the game differently. That gap is not visible in knowledge or experience. It's in how you think, how you choose, how you prioritize and how you build.
Female leaders with your profile often have a brilliant mind that grows faster than the structure in which that mind operates. You keep iterating, optimizing, adjusting, refining. You make great career strides, your value in business grows, but your clarity shrinks. Your impact increases, but your autonomy shrinks.
And your body (but also your environment because your restlessness does not make your home situation any more pleasant) increasingly indicates: do less. But that is a superficial solution to a deeper problem. Real simplicity is not created by reduction, but by a Re-Set For a redesign. Not by taking things away, but by rewriting your foundation based on intelligence.
This is when intelligent simplification begins: not by doing less, but by designing more strategically.
Intelligent simplification is not an easy path, but it is a profitable one
Simplicity does not equal less work. You may think that simplicity is lighter and requires less effort, when the reality is just the opposite. True simplicity is the result of deep strategic looking, thinking and constructing. Of daring to get to the bottom of what patterns, assumptions, structures and habits are blocking your growth and freedom. From the ability to see where you are overloading your system with unnecessary choices, processes or expectations of yourself and others.
When you simplify without insight, you lose value. You remove what feels heavy, but not what is wrong. You create space without direction. Reducing without Re-Design you don't solve it structurally. That is why many entrepreneurs simplify and yet do not experience peace or growth. They have removed things, but not redesigned anything. They stopped executing, but did not start building.
You have simplified in volume and not in intelligence. And simplicity without intelligence is empty. Simplicity with intelligence is leadership.

The blind spot: thinking you've already simplified
A lot of women who work with me initially say that they already have their foundation strong and already simplified. They are in control of their time and schedule, work with the right clients, have chosen a value-based focus offering and have profitably optimized a processes. But to me, that's not intelligent simplification, that's reduction. It feels logical, it feels efficient, but it doesn't change the system, your routines or your current standard.
The blind spot here is that you think simplicity comes about by taking things away. But simplicity only arises when what remains is perfectly right. When your positioning, your offering, your marketing, your decision-making and your lifestyle resonate with each other. When there is no longer any friction between who you are and how you operate. That requires not reduction, but redesigning your current standard and strategy to start building and growing again from there.
Intelligent simplification changes not what you do, but who you are as a leader, how you live your life and build your legacy.
Flourishing in complexity, but is it really profitable?
Some people function superbly in complexity. They are creative, quick, intelligent, broad in their thinking and can integrate new ideas at lightning speed. They enjoy that richness. It feels productive. It feels like living your life and enjoying it to the fullest.
For years I lived this life. Full time in sixth gear. Full-time job in corporate business, second job in sports. I traveled all over the world and when I became a mother of Pim, I did that on top of everything else. I knew how to plan and organize everything perfectly, because I didn't want to give up on anything. However, more and more often and more deeply I felt that I did not get the real satisfaction out of it, which I had certainly felt all those years. It felt more and more like being limited, trapped and restricted by my own built rat race, not wanting to give up my current standard or take a step back (because yes, my ego thought a lot of things about it and I didn't study and put so much into my career for nothing, did I? After all, who am I without a title?).
But the question is not whether you can function in complexity. The question is whether it actually gives you what you think. Complex work gives dopamine, but not sustainable gains. It gives a sense of movement, but rarely real scale. It gives satisfaction because you do a lot, but it doesn't provide freedom. And it often comes at the expense of your time/freedom, health/energy as well as growth in the long run.
Complexity can be addictive, especially for intelligent women. But something that is addictive is rarely effective and sustainable for your quality of life. So the essence is not whether you can handle it. It is whether you want to bear it. And Whether it brings you closer to freedom and the essence of your life or further away from it.
The shift to Future-Fit & Intelligent Leadership requires clarity, not toughness
For modern women leaders, the challenge is not to learn more, but to think more deeply. Not to work harder and faster, but to choose more firmly. Not to master everything, but to design better.
Future-Fit Leadership is all about systems thinking at the strategic level. About the ability to look beneath the surface at processes, routines and patterns of decision-making. It requires that you stop putting out fires and start building architecture. So that you focus your energy on what matters. You focus on impact that is scalable and profitable, on what creates peace and what provides autonomy.
That's what it means to close the Intelligence Gap™: you create a form of leadership in which your knowledge is transformed into impact, your time into value, your creativity into profit and your talent into freedom.
Future-Fit leaders choose from four principles:
- Optionality over optimization
- Optimizing makes you vulnerable.
- Optionality makes you antifragile.
- Antifragility over stability
- Stable systems break under stress.
- Antifragile systems grow stronger under pressure.
- Exponential leverage over linear labor
- Those who still think in terms of hours, capacity and time are losing.
- Those who build assets, systems, IP and automation win.
- Intelligence over information
- Information is cheap.
- Thinking power is scarce.
- Strategic thinking is your greatest differentiator.
Over the years, I identified the systems and strategic steps that are essential in any growth process. Because growth is cyclical and each stage requires deepening and enriching your value, your systems and processes on a personal, business and financial level.
As such, I've been working for years with my own Integral Growth Systems™, including my 7P Framework: the seven steps every entrepreneur and/or high achieving professional goes through each time you reach a new stage of growth.
I see many women losing valuable time here. Because they are either missing parts of the foundation to continue growing or are long ready for the next phase, but keep messing around in their comfort zone.
During our collaboration we will work depending on your ambitions and your personal, business and financial goals, so that you will be strong in your new position and your renewed business plan with focus on value maximization through personal leadership, business growth and the growth towards financial peace, space and freedom. That to me is a profitable system for growth in all areas: personal business and financial. Where many leadership programs focus on one or at most two areas, I address the whole system integrally. As a holistic whole, which is our life. It as a whole combined, integrated and aligned with how you want to live, shape your potential and ambitions and make your dreams come true.
So we ensure that everything is right again from the essence and with satisfaction, peace and space. So that you are strong again in the right place, where you are seen and appreciated for the value you deliver. Not only by the people around you, but especially by yourself.
It's time to stop being humble and making room for others at the expense of yourself. You may go back to being full of the value you add and the contribution you make to the growth and impact you achieve.
Achieve more by doing things differently. Freeing yourself again and spending your time and energy on those people and things that really matter.
Get more peace, space and return from yourself and your business.
Where have you not yet closed the Intelligence Gap?
If you really want to transform, you don't start with plans. You start with radical honesty.
- Where are you smart but ineffective?
- Where do you know a lot but decide little?
- Where are you busy but not making strategic progress?
- Where do you feel your business should be lighter than it is?
- Where is your revenue growing, but your autonomy not growing?
And the most essential question:
Did you simplify without really redesigning?
The answer to this question determines whether you close or maintain the Intelligence Gap. Because in reality, you will have mostly halved, but only the volume and not the system has changed. Without redesign, complexity keeps returning.
The gist: Close the Intelligence Gap
The Intelligence Gap closes when you choose intelligent simplification, scalability that frees you up, and leadership that is no longer based on volume, but on vision. Because with your years of experience, a backpack full of expertise and value, you can accomplish so much there from a different perspective and way of thinking. Because,
You already know enough.
You are already doing enough.
Now is the time to think differently.
Close The Intelligence Gap™. Clarify your vision, strengthen your position, change how you work, sharpen how you lead. Redesign how you grow personally, professionally and financially.
From complexity to clarity.
From effort/overexertion to intelligence.
From more to scale to freedom.
If this moment resonates, you feel you are ready for a bigger system and you no longer want to wait for permission, now is the time to claim your spot and join The ELLLE Board.
Because your intelligence is your authority, value and future.
One Life. Lead it. Live it.

Scale to Freedom - Six-month intensive transformation for women who want to scale in impact, revenue and freedom without losing their essence. Scale to Freedom is built on the principles of intelligent simplification.
This phased journey is designed to guide women leaders and entrepreneurs through the three layers of true scale development: personal, business and financial.
Because you don't close the Intelligence Gap by adding yet another strategy. You close it by focusing your strategy to what really works. By (re)designing your offering in such a way that it is scalable without weighing you down. By sharpening your positioning so that the market automatically understands you. By structuring your business so that your freedom increases as you grow.
It's not a quick fix. It's a mature, future-fit way of working that recalibrates your leadership for autonomy, clarity and intelligence.
P.S3 The warning you need to hear
The biggest risk is that you recognize this and yet continue to optimize within the same system. A smaller risk is that you think you need even more knowledge, while it is not a knowledge problem but an integration problem.
The most underestimated blind spot is continuing to invest in tactical growth while the systemic base, your foundation and position are not right.
You may think you need more peace, more clarity or more time before you can make this shift. I see the opposite: leaders gain peace and clarity when they finally stop compensating within a system that underutilizes them.
I am careful not to affirm your desire for growth out of social desirability. That is why I say that Integrated Leadership Intelligence™ only works if you are willing not to do more but to think differently, choose differently and create differently.
This is not a solution for everyone. It is a path for women who are ready to redesign their own system.
Not working harder. Building wiser. Enriching life.
