From hard work to successful living and business on your terms
On the outside, everything seems perfect. A thriving career and business, an organized family and a full life. But on the inside something is gnawing. A feeling of restlessness, fatigue and the desire for more. A different definition than more than before. Now you long for more time and freedom, more fulfillment, more meaning. You cling to the belief that working harder is the only path to success, while exhausting yourself and your health. You want to get away from the grind, but the fear of leaving everything behind holds you back.
You long for something different and want to be able to manage your own time again without the pressure from home, from your clients or from above. You want to be able to integrate your life and a profitable business. Spend your time on the things that matter in order to grow in your life and your business. But without compromising your ambition level, your income and growth opportunities.
The reality is that you are stuck in a vicious cycle, your own rat race, in which you have also achieved and achieved so many successes. You work hard, but feel lived in and lack fulfillment. Spending your time on those things that matter to grow in your life and business. But without compromising your level of ambition, income and opportunities for growth. To get out of that sixth gear, you must first slow down now. Because the key is not in continuing and working even harder, but in changing your position where you can think and act more strategically from a different perspective from an overview.
By letting go of what no longer works and focusing on your new leadership position and innovative value creation, you will create more impact, revenue and freedom. And the great thing is: change doesn't mean starting over. You build on everything you've already accomplished.
The pitfall of sticking to your current standard
Why staying put is not the solution if you want to change and grow.
Most people get stuck in a position, in a life that doesn't really make them happy. For fear of changing. The fear of letting go of what they have and not knowing what they will get in return. And then you stay stuck from control and false security.
I also see it in many established entrepreneurs, who keep going with the same systems, the same business and/or revenue models and strategies that used to work, but now actually hinder their growth. They are stuck in the trap of the default:
- Too much control, not enough creativity >> You miss new opportunities and increase the risk of losing your strong position, your value and your growth.
- Focused on competition rather than customers >> This comes at the expense of your expert status and connection and affiliation with the market and your top customers.
- Efficiency over flexibility: Rigid structures, systems and processes cost you more time and energy than they give you, blocking growth and innovation.
The fear of changing and leaving everything behind is understandable, but sticking to your current standard can actually hinder you. Because if you do what you always did, you will get what you always got.
Change requires letting go of what is now and choosing what you desire....
Change requires letting go of what no longer serves you
Change is a constant in life. Changes lead to new developments and growth in the economy, society, as well as in your environment, in your private and personal life.
That desire for growth and development is also within you. Do you dare to leave your comfort zone to make room for new opportunities?
The question is not: Can I afford to change?
The question is: Can I afford not to change?
Dare to let go of what no longer works. No longer from a fear of losing, but from a mindset focused on winning, growing and developing successfully.
For your health, ambitions and future, you can no longer stand still.
Breaking the vicious circle
The moment you realize you want things to be different because there is more to you and life than what you are getting out of it now is the moment when change becomes necessary. The question then is: Do you keep hoping things will get better and continue this way until retirement or death? Or do you choose to realize your dreams and start living and living life again? Do you choose the change for the freedom, depth and enrichment of life?
Change often feels like loss - loss of your status, your steady income, your current standard and certainties. Like throwing away everything you are comfortable with, in exchange for an unknown set of burdens and uncertainties.
But this is not true. Change does not mean starting over. You are not giving up everything you did before, but building on your expertise and value. You start using and leveraging your expertise and value differently from now on, making your impact and building your own legacy. Which in turn you pass on to others to help them grow further.
Change is growth
Change is exciting and evokes resistance:
- Resistance to change: Holding on to outdated or ineffective routines and processes because that's how you've always done and used them.
- Fear of failure: Acknowledge a wrong decision is often seen as a failure, leading to continued suboptimal work and results.
But sticking to ineffective strategies can actually hold back your change and innovation. If you do what you've always done, you already know what you're getting. And continuing or working harder can damage the success of your life, career/business, and more strongly, your health and happiness in life.
Because when you are stuck in something that is not worth pursuing, it costs you more (time, energy, money, pleasure) than it accrues and brings you.
Change is a source of new opportunities and growth. In which every one is a learning opportunity. It is not, "What happens if it goes wrong?" But, "What will I learn if it fails?"
Change from a growth mindset:
- What do I learn from this experience?
- How does this change help me grow? Personally, professionally and financially?
- How do I make this experience productive?
Create your own opportunities
Change to truly live your life again. Change to take your business to the next level. Change to increase your impact and freedom.
Times are changing - so are you. You choose to be yourself. You choose to grow.
The question is not or you can grow, but how quickly you take the first step toward change. How quickly you create your own opportunities by changing your current perspective and position, raising your standard and to strategically lead your success and growth.
I wish you a successful week.
