Feeling overworked?

How to spend your time better as an entrepreneur 15 questions for greater insight

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life"

- Steve Jobs -

Time is precious and doesn't come back. So are you spending your time on those things that matter in life? What do you spend your time on as an entrepreneur? How conscious are you of your time? Can you spend your time better? Do you want more control over your time, manage your time yourself and lead your life and business? Then take a conscious look at your time management. And more importantly, look at your energy management.

Doing what makes you tick, energizes you and makes an impact

The question at the top of my list was, "How do I find my life's work?"

And that is also a question that comes back regularly. Because you are growing and developing as a human being. Life forms you and gives you more and more insight into what the essence of life really is. And with that a clearer picture of the life you want to lead. And what you have to do in life = Your life's work, your legacy.

I compiled a list of questions that have helped (and still help) me get closer to myself and the answers again.

Good questions help you get good answers. And finding your life's work is often a life-long experience and requires regular reflection.

If you're reading this and feel you've found your life's work, I'd love to hear what you think in response to this email. What helped you get to this point the most?

These are the questions I ask myself that in turn give me new insight. Questions that can be valuable to you as well. How can you spend your time better as an entrepreneur? And spend your time on your life's work?

1. What am I still jealous of?

This question illustrates what you really value in your subconscious.

Envy is a sign of dissatisfaction. As you get closer to the work to which you are called, you become less envious of people doing other things.

2. What does success require? And are you willing to go there?

Think about the top 1% people in your field. What have they had to endure in exchange for success?

Ask yourself "What are the actions, skills and evidence you need to succeed?".

Ask yourself if you are willing to do those things. This question is the gateway to your pursuits.

3. Who do I have to become? Who do I have to be?

Any serious examination of what you should do must begin with who you want to become. Who do you want to be. Because for me, to live life from the inside out is to first be and do in order to get/have that which you desire. BE - DO - HAVE and not the other way around.

4. Where do you feel great resistance or fear?

Resistance is a sign of dissonance: What you do matters.

The more resistance you experience in response to a change or idea, the more certain you can be that there is a big dream and that it is yours to achieve.

5. What do you do that others seem to find difficult, but that comes easily to you?

Everyone has unique strengths and weaknesses. Your opMunities as I always call them. Probably there is something you are adept at and others are not. Each of us is programmed differently. What is that thing you are bang on at?

6. Fast-forward 50-60 years. If you were about to die and an angel allowed you to go back in time to this moment, how would you see life?

This question requires perspective and self-reflection.

Another good question is, "If I had already made a change, would I want to go back to what I have now?"

7. What would you continue to do regardless of how much money you had?

What wouldn't you want to quit for anything? This is your life's work.

8. What is the strangest thing you spend a lot of time on?

Your passions have opMARKable value. By engaging in your passion, you create long-term meaning.

Related to this question is, "What am I excessively curious about - so curious that it would bore most other people?". Passions give you positive energy And are those things you can spend hours on and talk about.

What I can talk about for hours? About our active tours and beautiful adventures, about sports - mainly cycling, running, snowboarding/skiing, about health, nutrition, good nutritious food, personal development. But also about technology and innovation in businesses, research (medical). And above all I am interested in people, what drives a person,

9. What hidden, ugly back-end tasks seem exciting to me?

Back-end tasks are things like sitting at a desk for hours, running a company's operations or endless phone calls.

Some, however, find sending emails purging or relaxing.

What tedious tasks do you enjoy doing? I'm really into Artificial Intelligence and ways how to use it smartly in your business. Mainly focused on SEO, blogging, content creation and omni channel strategy from video.

10. What success on the front end is so good that I am willing to pay the ugly hidden price on the back end?

Front-end success is success that you earn from back-end work. Consider what success you would like to pursue, given back-end costs.

Suppose you hate emails. What kind of success would make a full inbox worthwhile?

11. What do I have a natural aptitude or deep interest in? Where can I do valuable work?

The work you do must meet the following:

  • Something for which you have a natural skill
  • Something you are deeply interested in
  • Something that is lucrative or offers opportunities.

Another good question to ask in this context is, "What do I want to do every day for the next 3-4 years?". How can you make better use of your time as an entrepreneur?

12. If I were to take a break from "serious" work to work on something just because it would be really interesting, what would I do?

The happiest people are those whose work doesn't feel that way. Their passions are woven into what they do.

13. What advice would I give to a friend in my situation?

Giving advice is easy. Taking advice is harder.

Think about what you would tell a friend in a similar situation. What do they need to hear?

14. What would I want to be, do and have if I already had 10 million Euros in the bank?

Think about where you would like to be if you were a multimillionaire. Then ask yourself, "How can I get there?"

15. If I were a character in a movie, how would I respond to the question, "Why don't they just do that!"?

You're watching your favorite TV show and a character is contemplating taking that new step to really living and living life. You wait for them to finally do it - you encourage them.

If you were the character, would you as a viewer react the same way? And how would your viewers react? That's what you would have to do?
