Where do you stand as a leader and are you ready for change?

Deep down, we want to grow as leaders and entrepreneurs. And to grow not only professionally and professionally, but also in personal and financial leadership. This pursuit of growth is essential to realize our full potential and create new value in a variety of areas: 

  • Your personal growth: mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health. 
  • Your private life in the quality of your life, in your relationships and well-being. 
  • Your business in profitability, and that not only in money, but also in the impact you make and the freedom of time to be able to do what you're good at and energized by. 
  • Your financial ability and freedom.

If you do not have a clear goal in mind, or a clear vision and mission in your life, it is good to first gain insight into that. Where am I now? Where do I want to grow to? 

Understanding your growth: The growth phase as a leader of your life and business

To gain insight into where you are now and how you can continue to grow, an assessment can help. This assessment includes questions that help you evaluate your current situation and identify areas for improvement. It gives you insight and direction for your continued development and growth as a leader and entrepreneur. 

By investing in personal and professional/business growth (and thus using your full potential as well as adding new value) you will achieve more in your own way. So it's a continuum of change and improvement, where you are constantly creating new value for yourself and others.

I myself use an assessment for my 1:1 clients in my leadership coaching program. Reflection questions that help focus your attention on what is most important to you personally and professionally. Because both go hand-in-hand. If you want to grow in your business, that also requires growth in personal leadership. 

And underneath lies the important life questions: 

What is the essence of your life? 

What do you have to do here and want to leave behind (legacy)?

Understanding alone will not get you there. You will have to take action and start addressing it. 

Indeed, growing a business requires a holistic approach that focuses not only on your business strategy, but also on innovation, value creation, personal leadership and personal development. So which ties directly into what I wrote in my Empowered Letters last week: Ever level a new strategy. Every new growth requires a new strategy. Your strategic leadership, your positioning and your business strategy you also have to change again and reinforce them with new value in order to be firmly and strongly grounded in your new position again.

How can you grow a business?

From start-up to scale-up. 

When starting and growing your business, a strong foundation - including your personal and business foundation - is crucial. This means you must have a clear, remarkable position and strategy that is easy to communicate. And your business, sales and marketing processes must be streamlined to produce consistent profitable results.

Your financial planning and leadership will also play a crucial role. A strategic offering and strong cash flow through multiple revenue streams are essential to generate both growth and stable income.

How can you grow in leadership?

Advancing from founder to CEO

As a company continues to grow, the founder (founder) must evolve into the role of leader. To do this, you must work on your leadership development. Developing your new leadership skills has a positive impact on yourself as (the new position in) your company.

Because you need to step up from your current position and strengthen your new position. The promotion from manager to leader. This requires a shift in focus from "playing the field" to "coaching the team. After all, you can no longer do everything yourself. To grow, you have to start freeing yourself more and more to make space. Because you need to spend your time and energy on what you do best and make the most impact. And start hiring others (team and/or freelancers) and coaching them through effective leadership:

  • Consistent and inspiring communication
  • Setting an example in reliability and follow-up
  • Creating time for strategic thinking 
  • Making decisions in a timely and thoughtful manner
  • Attracting and developing top talent

A successful CEO must also be flexible, able to adapt to changing circumstances and willing to let go of outdated approaches.

How your role of a leader (CEO) changes as a company grows

Personal growth is inextricably linked to professional/business growth. To strengthen your position and lead your business growth to new heights, you must also invest in your own personal development: 

  • Prioritizing your time and energy, freeing yourself even more and becoming more selective about what you want to spend your time and energy on. 
  • Good self-care for you with attention to your mental and physical health
  • Consistently working on personal and business goals (AND AND AND)
  • Continuous learning and asking for feedback
  • Role model, role model for others: not only create personal success, but also inspire others in your organization and network to do the same.
  • Collaborations, partnerships and co-creations through which you achieve more together, credit the successes and set the stage.
