How do you combine a family life with a successful business?

Entrepreneurship comes with peaks and valleys
Entrepreneurship is a challenge. I too do not continuously rate my life with a 9. So I always say, "Without lows there are no peaks and without peaks there are no lows."
In entrepreneurship, you are challenged even more. That was a reason for me to start a successful business. In business, I suffered from bore-out. My mental health So it wasn't too good. I didn't have enough challenges and stimuli so my work became an energy leak. Whereas these days I am bursting with energy. So entrepreneurship can also give you a lot of energize. For example, I become very happy with my top clients and contacts that I have through my own company.
Take action if you want something to go differently
That I am happy about entrepreneurship also seeps back into my personal life. The turning point in my life came during corona. I used to work full-time in business and suddenly I was working at home and had my child (then 4 years old) around me 24/7. That combination was not good for me. My energy wasn't flowing and I wasn't comfortable in my own skin. At one point, my son said to me, "Mommy, you're so angry." He hit the nail on the head. I was no longer happy, was rather triggered and rather irritated.
It was time for action, to change it. And I am very good at that. I'm good at taking action and translating from want to do. It's something I help my top clients with as well. They often know they want to change something, but they don't know how to do it.
Investing in yourself and your business for a successful enterprise
I have been an entrepreneur since November 2021. Before that, though, I was coached and have been Investeerjij.com started. This is because I believe in investing in yourself and in your business. When I felt something was not right, I knew I had to work on both. My energy wasn't right, so I had to work on that in order to physical health experience. But also for my business, I engaged coaches who could help me even before I registered my business with the Chamber of Commerce.
At one point I even had 4 coaches. I invest in myself and my business to make it a successful business. And I'm full of energy doing that. Building and expanding my empire, where I can share my value and make more impact.
Learning to let go and outsource
Do you want to grow with your business and as an entrepreneur? Then you have certain steps to take. I believe you have to do what you're bang on at. So if there's work that doesn't energize me, I know I'm going to do that need to outsource work and have to let go. For example, I have a web builder who helps me with my websites and I have a technical VA who helps me with other technical issues.
It makes me happy that I don't have to do this work myself and they are happy to help me. This requires clear agreements and I really have to leave the tasks to the other person. I used to be inclined to do the tasks myself, but I don't do that anymore.

Dealing with time for your family, your business and yourself
Healthy business is also knowing what matters. For me that is:
- My health
- Time together with my family
- Self-care
- Personal development
- Working on my ambitions
Because also running a successful business means having time to devote to my ambitious plans and developing myself to continue growing. And that means making choices. Personally, when making my annual plan, I assume 10 months in which I work. There are always days that fall out due to vacations, parties and so on. I always make an effective and simple plan that states what I want to accomplish in a year. I cut this up into quarters and on a quarterly basis I decide where my focus will be and when I will take time off.
Responding to innovations and changes in the market is important to me. My annual and quarterly plan is not completely fixed, but I look at what I need to do to meet my goals and what innovations and changes are in the market that can help me do this.
In July and August, many of my top clients are on vacation and so am I with my family. So in these months I adjust my actions, goals and revenue target. I also work on different revenue models. So I also look at how I keep an income stream per year and quarter, so I can also create my free time and keep an income stream. That is living and doing business on my terms.
Know what your pitfalls are
I, too, have pitfalls. For example, being offline during my vacation is still something I can work on. I found it very difficult during my summer vacation in 2022 to not be online for 2 weeks. I was reduced online, but I wasn't completely out of office. So this year I really want to turn things off for myself during days off. So as an entrepreneur, I may still grow in this. Fortunately even, because eager to learn as I am, I will continue to learn and develop in order to continue to grow, both personally and professionally. After all, my business cannot continue to grow if I as an entrepreneur do not invest in myself as well as in my business.
Making smart use of your time
I myself work with short- and long-term strategies and this is what I teach my top clients to do as well. Today, with Artificial Intelligence tools like ChatGPT, it is even easier to being smart with your time. With this you create the foundation of your content. And in addition, I capitalize on omnipresence. When I create a YouTube video, I also leverage this content for my podcast and LinkedIn.
