Change is an opportunity to grow. But what do you put at risk for it?

But change requires letting go of what is there now.

And then the thunder begins...

The excitement and resistance, because what are you putting on the line?

Your status, your ego, your current income....

Out of safety, stay where you are, or say you don't know, that you are going to start as ....

So many reasons to not do it. Though deep inside you feel that you want to do things differently, and let fear keep you from starting something new. Your brain is strong enough to suppress your desire and feelings and keep putting off the choice to really choose for yourself.

Because that strong and smart brain of yours wants control and security - after all, you now know what you have and you don't know what will take its place.

All those obstructed thoughts hold you back. Those grim Gremlins keep you small. Suppose you are not going to succeed? What are you risking then? What is it going to cost you?

What if it does succeed? What will it get you?

The Win Without Pitching Manifesto

I read the great book by Blair Enns:

The Win Without Pitching Manifesto

90-95% of people would rather live with the undesirable conditions than do the undesirable work. In other words, they stay where they are. Despite the fact that they are not in the right place, they are doing things that do not give them energy and satisfaction.

Blair asks:

Average people avoid the difficult decision.

Most people will change their desires even their values before they will change their behavior.

And the question to you is, "Are you most people?"

Who are you?

Are you like most people? Or do you choose to do things differently. Different in your own way, in your own way to make an impact?

Because for the rest of your life and career, do you want to keep adapting yourself (trying to fit in)? Be guided by and continue to conform to someone else's expectations and conditions?

While you feel that things are no longer right? That you are not in the right position as a leader?

Life is hard, but fortunately you can choose how hard.

Choosing to lead and live rather than struggle and survive.

Framework 30-to-30: start small and change fast

The 30-to-30 approach:

  • 30 minutes per day
  • 30 full days

In each area where you want to make progress, do 30 minutes a day for 30 days.

Do you want to grow personally or professionally? Do you have a new business idea but are frustrated by your lack of progress? Work on it for 30 minutes a day for 30 days.

  • Want to make your health a priority, but don't know where to start? Walk 30 minutes a day for 30 days.
  • Are you trying to build a personal BRAND but failing to create momentum and the right content? Write or create content for 30 minutes a day for 30 days straight.
  • Want to learn a new language? Study for 30 minutes a day for 30 consecutive days.

Change to grow

This can be any new skill or habit, or an existing expertise/competency that you want to enrich.

  • Commitment and strategic actions: Commit to focused effort - the right actions at the right time to achieve your new goals for 30 minutes a day for 30 consecutive days.
  • Accountability and positive feedback: Work with a friend, fellow entrepreneur or a group of like-minded people to hold each other accountable to the daily goal. I call this positive feedback loop - feedback, advice and accountability.
  • Keeping up, adapting and persevering: Track your daily execution with a strategic action plan = a simple system. Keep it simple stupid. But it ensures that you maintain focus, keep track of the changes initiated, and maintain insight/overview of your strategic growth.

Like a marathon of short, manageable sprints

The remarkable in the "ordinary" noticing

"The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra."

Jimmy Johnson

Change brings uncertainty and excitement. Change means letting go of what is now. And change is something anyone can do. As long as you want to and go for it. Take the first step.

Start by changing something. Something you can start right away and step up to that every day. Because if you change and improve 1% every day, you'll keep growing. And the compound effect of every day 1% extra is great in the long run. It gives you so much more. More satisfaction, impact and freedom in your life, your business and your future.

One Life. Lead it. Live it.

Have a great week,
